Chicken Fajita Salad

I have been eating too much desserts lately and boy, I feel so guilty! When that happens, my body will usually crave for something healthy like fresh, green veggies.

I made this Chicken Fajita Salad for lunch today. I got the recipe from the Paleo Solution book that my husband is currently reading. It's so easy and quick and super healthy!

1 tbsp olive oil
3/4 cup sliced onions
1 lb skinless chicken breast strips (approximately 450 grams)
1/2 tsp cumin
2 tsp oregano
1 cup chopped bell peppers
red leaf lettuce
1-2 tomatoes (I used cherry tomatoes)
1 avocado

Put olive oil in a skillet and heat over medium. Add sliced onions and saute until soft. Add the chicken, cumin and oregano, stir well. When the chicken has browned, add the bell peppers.

Wash and shred the red lettuce (I also used green lettuce) and place on a plate. Toss in the tomatoes, then the chicken fajita mix and top with sliced avocado. Done!

How Smartphone Users See Each Other

This is rather amusing. Got it from this page.

iPhone users are actually pretty regular people who just think they are oh so cool. Blackberry users think iPhone users are childish idiots with all the useless apps and Android users think iPhone users are brainwashed by Steve Jobs.

The Android user is a little boring but sees himself as being smarter than most, iPhone users think the Android user is an uncool dork and Blackberry users who have no clue about Android believes the Android user can only make a living by delivering pizzas.

The Blackberry user is typically a white-collar sales rep, who thinks he is the big shot business man, iPhone users sees the Blackberry user as as an aged sales person and soooo yesterday. The Android users can’t even bother looking in the direction of the Blackberry user and his dinosaur phone.

Milk For Mommies

I'm a sucker for free samples. Skincare, hair care, perfumes, baby stuff, food, drinks, anything! I like to try new things so samples are a great way to try a product.

A couple of months ago when I went for my postnatal check-up, I saw a basket filled with milk samples for pregnant and nursing moms at the hospital's registration counter. I breastfeed my baby exclusively and at that time I was consuming Wyeth Mama milk but I wanted to try a few other brands as well, so I grabbed a few samples to try it at home. Well, I didn't like it. Not even the chocolate flavoured ones.

You see, breastfeeding makes me hungry like ALL the time and I usually prefer to snack on warm drinks mixed with oats especially in the middle of the night while pumping my milk.

When I found out that Friso has come out with a new milk for pregnant and nursing moms called Friso Mum Gold, I immediately want to give it a try. It's the only maternal milk that contains Prebiotic and Probiotic.

In case you don't know, Probiotics are good bacterias that "guard" the digestive systems from bad bacterias to keep us healthy and it also helps to relieve constipation, as well as preventing allergic reactions in newborns.

Prebiotics however, are food for the good bacteria to help them grow and it also helps our body to absorb calcium easily.

I was quite surprised to find out that Friso Mum Gold contains a lot of nutrients compared to other maternal milk. It contains DHA, AA, SA, folic acid, iron and calcium, just what every pregnant and nursing mom needs!

And then I found out that you can actually request a sample of the milk from Friso website (just sign up as a member), so I requested for it.

I can't wait to try the new Friso Mum! And I hope I can continue to breastfeed Raina until she's 2 years old, Insyaallah.

Favorite Makeup Products

Here's a list of products that I am using and loving at the moment:

Laura Mercier Mineral Powder
This product was actually purchased by mistake. Thinking it was a loose powder, I bought it and wore it on top of my foundation and it made my face looked too heavy! I hated it until I found out that this mineral powder is actually a foundation (I'm not used to mineral makeup before), which is great because I don't need to wear loose powder anymore. It's like a 2-in-1 product - it's a foundation in the form of powder and it seems to melt into my skin, making it look so natural. The result is a FLAWLESS and radiant complexion!

Laura Mercier Secret Concealer
Shhh...this is my little secret to hide those ugly dark circles of mine! It's creamy, smooth, blends well into the skin and doesn't look cakey.

Laura Mercier Eye Basics
An eye primer which helps to enhance eye shadow colors but I usually wear it on its own without any eye shadows especially when I'm in a hurry. I got this in Flax which has a pretty pearlescent tint and I love how it brighten up my eyes. It dries up real fast so you have to blend it quickly. A little goes a long way!

MAC 214 Brush
Remember this entry where I said I wanted to get a smudge brush? Well, I finally got one! This short shader brush is perfect for smudging, defining the upper and lower lashlines, making the perfect 'v' at the outer corner of eyes and great for applying shadows near the tear ducts area too. It's a little pricey for me but it's worth it!

Dior Crayon Eyeliner
I love Stila Kajal Eyeliner but it's a gel-like formula and I have to apply it with a liner brush which can be a bit of a hassle when I'm in a hurry (you're always in a hurry when you have kids, no?) so that's why I turned to Dior's. It's easy to apply, doesn't smudge and really black. I have been using it for years - this is like my 10th purchase!

Maybelline Magnum Volum' Express Mascara
I have raved about this mascara before. It's basically the perfect mascara that gives the length, volume and curl I want.

Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights
This is actually a highlighter for the face but I use it as a blusher. It's a coral-peachy color and gives a nice subtle glow on the apple of my cheeks.

Majolica Majorca Rouge Majex Lip Gloss
The color I got is BE205 which is a sheer nude color with a little shimmer. It's slightly scented, not sticky and best of all, it's CHEAP! (It's only about RM30).

Heavenly Red Velvet Cake

I don't think I would ever get tired of eating Red Velvet Cakes. Every time when I feel like having a cake for dessert, my mind can only think of Red Velvet Cake. It's my most favorite cake in the world!

Today I finally get to taste the Red Velvet Cake from Just Heavenly (at Food Republic, Pavilion) as some of you readers had recommended. My God, it was heavenly, I almost wanted to pengsan when I took the first bite. I just LOVE the cream cheese!

Just Heavenly's Red Velvet Cakes come in three sizes - a big cake, a small cake and cupcake. Since it was my first time, I decided to try the cupcake first. I also bought their vanilla cupcake, which is not bad. I mean it tasted like normal butter cake la. Nothing to shout about.

Anyway, I spotted this cake on display while paying for the cupcakes. Gorgeous, no?

A stilettos cake!

Ayra shouted "Shoesssss!" when she saw the cake and then she looked down at my feet. I guess she thought I put my shoes on the cake?

Jipaban Online Shopping Mall

Going shopping with a baby that needs to be fed like every hour and a toddler who can't sit still for more than 5 minutes is really tiring and ain't easy, I'm telling you. I don't like to rush when I shop because I always end up not liking the stuff I bought, which is why I prefer to shop online - whether at international shopping websites, eBay or even local blogshops.

Then recently I found out about this cool online shopping website - Jipaban. I have never seen anything like it!

Jipaban is a customizable online shopping MALL and apparently it's the largest one in South East Asia! There are 102 stores (and counting!) and over 3000 products in there. You can find clothes, bags, accessories, shoes, mobile phone accessories, stationeries, clothes and more clothes!

Some of the tops that caught my eye

Jipaban is not like any ordinary shopping websites because it's customizable with social networking integration including Facebook, Twitter and Egg-on list. What I mean by customizable is that you can build your own mall by choosing which shop you'd like to see simply by using the drag and drop method.

This is Jipaban Universe where all of the shops are listed here.

You can even arrange the shops into categories like what I did to my mall so it's easier to browse. Currently my mall has 3 categories (or floors) which are Fashion, Xcessories and Gadgets as shown below:

Another great thing about shopping at Jipaban is that you can make payment via internet banking like Maybank2u besides using Paypal or credit cards.

Since Jipaban is so big, I'm gonna highlight some of the shops that I think are worth checking out:

1) Lavy - lots of cute mix and match pieces.

2) Perfect Possessions - authentic designer bags at cheaper than retail prices.

And currently they are having 10% discount on all bags, including these beauties! The Christian Dior bag is so tempting. Argh!

3) Hype - trendy dresses and tops, as well as casual wear (I remember my favorite Australian blogger, Karen Cheng blogged about this shop before).

4) Quirky Brown Cow - sells cute and quirky accessories including brooches and headbands. This is one of the shops that will automatically appear at your mall without having to manually adding it (another one is MyFavouritees which sells funny novelty tees).

5) Eency Weency - dresses, dresses and more dresses! There are some vintage pieces as well.

6) Love, Bonito - One of Singapore's most well-known online shop with cute and trendy clothes!

Another cool feature on Jipaban is the Egg-on list. If you cannot decide whether you should get that top or dress, simply click on the Egg-on List at the bottom of the page and let your friends help you with the decision. It's actually my favorite feature because everyone needs a second (or more) opinion!

Now if I'm in the mood to shop for affordable apparels at the comfort of my home, I can just shop at Jipaban. I think it's the coolest online shopping mall!

For latest news and updates, follow Jipaban on Twitter and 'Like' it on Facebook.

Current Reads

At the moment I'm reading the latest book by Sophie Kinsella, Mini Shopaholic.

Don't I have the cutest bookmark?

The Shopaholic series is my favorite series ever (like seriously, which shopaholic doesn't like to read the Shopaholic series right?). I've been wanting to read this book ever since I heard about its release and now I'm so excited that I've finally got my hands on it! If this blog is un-updated in the next few days, you'll know why.

My husband on the other hand, is currently reading The Paleo Solution: The Original Human Diet.

We've been planning to watch what we eat and lead a healthier lifestyle because both of us gained a lot of weight when we were pregnant (apparently I wasn't the only one who was eating for two) and this book seems like the perfect read for us. This book is rated 5 stars and got great reviews on Amazon.com. I am definitely gonna read this as well.

Oh hey, have I ever mentioned that Ayra has a love for books too? She's currently "reading" How to Enjoy Your Life and Your Job. Impressive, no? ;p

And her job is playing all day long.
Who doesn't love that?!

Aww Moments

Almost everyone including my family, friends and relatives would asked if Ayra gets along well with her little sis; whether she has ever tried to hit her or show signs of jealousy, etc.

I'm telling you, this girl loves her little sis SO MUCH. She kisses Raina at least 20 times a day, I'm not kidding! She kisses her cheeks, chin, nose, mouth, head, forehead, hands, elbow, knees, feet, everywhere! Pantang nampak Raina, mesti nak cium. Raina doesn't seem to mind tho - she would respond by opening her mouth; at times she would even smiled back.

Sometimes Ayra wants to share the biscuit or packet drink that she's eating/drinking with Raina, or bring her toys and put them beside Raina nak suruh main sama. Cair aku tengok. Ayra is protective of her sis too and nobody can dukung Raina except for the ones she's familiar with. She can't even let Raina out of her sight! The other day, my husband dropped me and Raina at the mall and he told me, as soon as Raina and I got out of the car, Ayra tak berhenti panggil-panggil adik dia sampai la balik. Alahai!

Oh, have I told you that Ayra calls her little sis, "abik"? At first she pronounced adik correctly. Then after some time it went from "adik" to "apik" and now it's "abik"! We've corrected her so many times but she still calls Raina, "abik"! Oh well, nanti dah besar sikit boleh sebut betul-betul kot.

It warms my heart to see the two of them together. I hope the bond between them will grow stronger as they grow older.

Postpartum Hair Loss Strikes

Yesterday morning I woke up as usual, took my shower, shampooed my hair and when I rinsed, I noticed my hair shed more than usual! It was even worse when I combed my hair (when it's all dry). Time for a new shampoo!

That night I quickly dragged my husband to Shins at Mid Valley to get Nioxin hair care products. From the online assessment that I did earlier at home, I found that I should get the System 1 range which is for fine, natural hair that is normal to thin-looking. I grabbed all 3 products that were recommended on the website.

Shins ran out of Scalp Treatment System 1, so I took the System 2 instead. The Cleanser (shampoo) was the last one they had and as you can see in the picture, the bottle looks worn out and dented a little, almost like a tester bottle but I didn't care because I was in dire need of hair loss solution. I had never spent that much on hair care products before so they better work!

Oh that reminds me, remember the Bawang shampoo that I blogged some time ago? A Chinese reader of mine emailed me to inform that she read in a Chinese newspaper that the shampoo actually contains cancer-causing chemicals! I don't know how true it is but it's better to be safe than sorry!

Kereta Berhias

Never in my life have I seen anything like this.

That is a Pajero decorated with toy figures, in case you're wondering. My husband saw it at Mid Valley the other day, snapped some pictures to show them to me and I just had to show them to you guys!

That's A LOT of toys! Dalam kereta pun ada. Crazy right?
I bet everyone who sees it would be so amused.

There's Goofy, Shrek, Woody of Toy Story, Mickey Mouse, heck even Satria Baja Hitam pun ada! I guess the owner of this vehicle must be so obsessed with toy figures! It's interesting to see what people would do to decorate their cars.

Do you decorate your car?

Big Foot

Went shopping last week to update my wardrobe and managed to haul eight tops, a pair of jeans and some accessories. I also picked up these two shoes from Aldo. Man, my feet are so big. I wear size 38 now! >_<

I actually bought the black pair of shoes not because I really like it, but because the sales assistant was nice and layan dengan bersungguh-sungguh and I felt guilty for making him ulang-alik to the store four times to get the shoes as I wasn't sure of my size. I tried on not one but three pairs. Two of them were not available in my size so I was left with the least one that I liked. My heart was telling me to walk away but when the sales assistant smiled and asked if I want those shoes, I blurted out yes! Does that ever happen to you? I mean, have you ever purchased something just because the sales assistant was nice to you? It's kinda hard to say no, isn't it? But I realized that would only happen when I shop alone. I have to be strong next time. I have to learn to say NO.

Anyways, back at home I browsed Aldoshoes.com and my jaw dropped. They are having a massive sale and the prices are waaaay cheaper than here!

So. Tempting.

A Mommy's Wish List

Deep freezer - because there is no space left for my EBM in my current freezer.

Tandem stroller - because I have a toddler and a baby.

Waffle maker - because I want to make my own waffles instead of buying them.

Petunia Pickle Bottom baby bag - because one bag is not enough!

Elliptical exercise machine - because I cannot go on a diet (breastfeeding) so I need to exercise
and this looks more fun than a treadmill! ;p
