Little Muslimah

If there's anyone who would look adorable in anything, it'd be babies. Babies dressed up like cows, funny costumes, silly hats or even with food splattered all over their faces, they would surely look as cute as a button!

Here's Ayra wearing hijab. They're not for babies tho, but they seemed to fit her well.

So. Cute.

Pledge for Play

(This is a 48-hour sticky post, scroll down for updates!)

I realized the importance of playtime for babies, like I once mentioned in my Book Smart vs. Street Smart entry, which is why spending time playing with Ayra is a daily must-do activity for me. I set up a mini 'Play Land' for her in the middle of the living room, which is made up of some colorful textured alphabet foam play mat, her toys, baby books and a quilt just in case she falls asleep (but so far she hasn't yet). Ayra would usually wakes up at 9am and after being fed, she would get right down to her "business". I can tell that she is pleased whenever I put her on her 'Play Land'. And now that she has started crawling, play time is more fun than ever! Ayra loves chasing after moving objects - balls, cars, bottles, even my feet!

Sometimes I would let her play on her own while I get down to my business, but I guess with me around, she enjoys it even more. And I know children too would love it when their parents spend some time playing with them; not just babies. I remember when I was about 8, my parents used to take me and my sisters to the park to play badminton on weekends. We had a great time playing together and later had ice-creams on the way back home. It was fun! I want to do the same to my child too when she's bigger - I pledge to spend some time playing outdoor games with her!

And now I would like to call out for parents to pledge their playtime through sports as well. MILO wants to donate sport equipments to a few selected schools and you can help them by pledging your playtime so that it reaches their goal of 10,000,000 minutes of playtime pledges! Log on to http://www.milo.com.my/playmore to start your pledge. It could be swimming, biking, bowling, or even golfing - anything your heart desires!

Herbalife Post-Pregnancy Weight Loss Progress: Part 1

I weighed myself on the third day of fasting and couldn't believe my eyes. The numbers on my Tanita scale showed 55.9kg! I was 57kg, remember? :)

I know I wasn't suppose to weigh myself again until one more week but I did so yesterday (I was so curious) and the scale read 55.7kg! I've lost 1.3kg and it's not even a week yet. W00t! Aaaand I also lost 1 inch from both my bum and waist. Double w00t!!! Ini membuatkan saya lebih bersemangat!

Anyways, I have been meaning to share one of my current Herbalife customers' testimonials since a few weeks ago. So here they are:

Hi there Iza,

Thanks so much for the guidelines!!!
Proud to say that I have officially started my program today!!! Yippeee!!!

Had the shakes for lunch and dinner, and the tea as well... But i must say that the shakes really made me full... After having it for lunch (oh btw i was bz today so i just mix it with plain water), i felt so kenyang as if makan nasi goreng 2 pinggan... Amaaaazing!!! And then after drinking the tea yes yes as u said, i asyik pergi toilet je, totally felt like my body is cleansed... And u were right bout that energizing thing... Had them after i got home from a dinner party... X boleh nk tido..

Anyways, just wanna share with u dat my first day of starting the Herbalife diet.. I already see some changes in my eating habits... Went to dat bbq dinner party.. So many good food and desserts, assortments of cakes n chocs, and i was just too full after taking the shakes, i just makan few bites je then dah x larat... I mean like, wow... I lurrrve eating cakes, chocs, cookies n all dat, tapi tadi sikit punx terliur... If i can b like this forever, bagus kan?

--------------------------------

As suggested in ur earlier email, I did write down my weight and measurements in the progress charts that u sent me... I started the program 24 July 2009 kan... Now it's 26th kan... And jeng jeng jeng... I actually lost 1 inch from waist, 0.5 inch from thighs, and 0.5 kg... In 2 days... I actually melompat2 in my room ok after measuring myself....

And yes, I do enjoy the shakes so much (except my first day tu I just mix it with plain water kan cos I was really bz with the bbq party)

Semalam I mix the F1 shake with some ice cubes, banana, green apple and honey sikit, and I blend it... Sedaaap sangat... Hihiii

And then I also tried adding banana, red apple and wholegrain almond and banana cereal... Ok jugak tapi teramatlah filling...

Tomorrow I dah plan nak pegi Jusco beli Soyfresh to make the shake recipes macam dalam blog Iza tu... Hihiii

--------------------------------

...just wanna update kat u... After a week of consuming the products, I can proudly say... I've lost 2 inches from waist, hips, butt and 1 inch from thighs!!!! And I lost 1.5 kg, alhamdulillah...

Not only that Iza, my gastrik problem pun solved... I dah x pedih2 perut or masuk angin lagi... Now I feel healthy... Even became a more disciplined person... Not even craving for unhealthy food anymore... So if my maid goreng nuggets ke fries ke, buat burger ke... I just ignore je.. Instead I snack on fruits, roasted soy beans, baby carrots and occasionally wholemeal tuna sandwich...

Dina, KL.

I believe the Tea Mix is the one that helps to speed up the whole process bcoz now I remember that I rarely drink the tea ever since having a baby. I only started drinking it religously just a few days ago, masa start puasa. I drink one glass of hot Tea Mix after having my shake for sahur, and another glass a few hours after iftar.

I could positively say that this time (after 8+ months of having a baby), my post-pregnancy weight loss program has officially started bcoz last time I wasn't really sure if I could do it. Better late than never, no? Plus, I remember feeling this bersemangat when I first started Herbalife about 3 years ago. And this time I will really update my progress from time to time. My goal is to weigh at least 46kg and at most 50kg. So if I can get anywhere between 46 to 50 kg, I would consider it an achievement!

Anya Hindmarch Fashion Show

One of my favorite designer bags is Anya Hindmarch. I often find myself feasting my eyes on her website more than any other designers. Most of Anya Hindmarch bags especially the leather ones are stunning and chic that ranges from everyday wear to special occasions, no matter what the season is.

Recently, yours truly and her sisters attended an exclusive invitation-only Anya Hindmarch fashion show, which took place at KL Hilton. It's a preview of the Autumn/Winter 2009 Collection, followed by afternoon tea. The dress code for the event was "chic" and believe it or not, I just realized that I don't have anything chic in my closet that fits me! So after what seemed like ages of getting ready, I finally settled for a white ruched top from Zara, worn with a satin rope belt which I borrowed from Wani. The black flare pants was also borrowed from her - that's the best thing about having a sister of the same size!

Then I realized I looked so washed out in the gray scarf that I was wearing, but it was too late to change into a different one bcoz it was almost 4 o'clock. So off we went to the fashion show, with me looking like a drab. Whatever.

The fashion show has already started when we arrived, so we had to sit at the very back. But since it was a runway show, we could see pretty much everything. Most of this year's Autumn/Winter collection features a lot of black, brown and cherry red. They were all gorgeous; the bags especially. There were at least 10 bags that caught my eyes!

Serena C was the emcee.

Not many Asians can pull off a platinum blond hair, but I think the hair color looks great on her.

I dig the clutch that Wani is holding.

We were served canapes and lots of gourmet chocolates and cakes for tea, later after the show. It was 5pm and we haven't had our lunch yet, so we gobbled up everything that were being served!

Macaroons, my favorite

I've to say, this is the best event I've attended for this month.
Fashion and food, what's not to love?

I have a confession

I haven't been really serious with my weight loss program. In fact, I haven't even started yet. Well, not really. I have been trying to but it's so hard. All this while I've been consuming Herbalife as a maintenance program - not that I wanna maintain my current weight, but... is it just me or is it really SO hard to lose weight after giving birth??

I miss my slender pre-pregnancy figure!

My heaviest pregnancy weight was 64kg, and right after delivery I weighted 59kg (I only lost 5kg). I consumed Herbalife for weight loss during my confinement but only for a week bcoz my mom and my confinement nanny advised me not to go on a diet yet. I did manage to lose a little weight tho - 1 kg. So I was 58kg. Right after confinement, I started back on my weight loss program and managed to lose another 2kg but I was told by other mommies that one should not be on diet when breastfeeding to ensure enough milk supply, so I stopped after one month. I was 56kg. But then I started eating a lot - I ate 5 times a day and took Wyeth Mama milk 3-5 glasses a day. I could say I was addicted to it. Little that I know at that time, I was consuming more than 1000 kcal a day just on the milk (I mixed it with fresh milk)! Of course I gained weight shortly after that - I got back the 3kg that I lost. Dang! But my milk supply was the same - I do not have an abundance supply of milk so I was even more frustrated.

So then I went back on my weight loss program and stopped taking Wyeth Mama and I lost 1 kg in 2 weeks. Then I met Pavlova and my weight loss program went haywire again but thank God I haven't gained any yet. To date, I am still maintaining at 57kg. I have been so for a couple of months. I figured that if I can't lose weight (yet), at least I don't gain. Of course that's not the way it should be bcoz I'm still fat.

They say exclusively breastfeeding your baby can help you lose weight, but I did not. I am constantly hungry and I eat a lot and it's driving me nuts! I don't totally blame breastfeeding bcoz even now that I'm not exclusively breastfeeding my baby, I'm still as hungry as a bear. Pregnancy has changed my eating habit - the 3rd trimester, to be exact. I remember craving a lot of sweet stuff at the end of my trimester (hence, the massive weight gain), and until today I still am. I hate it when I don't have self-control! Now I know how challenging it is to change your eating habit once you've developed an unhealthy one. My main goal now is not to slim down, but to develop a healthy eating habit - bcoz I know once I have developed a healthy eating habit, losing weight won't be a problem bcoz I've been there and done that. I am reminding myself and to anyone who wants to lose weight, please don't make "nak kurus" as your main goal bcoz if it is, then it will be hard to maintain it or you find yourself slowly gaining back, no matter what product you use if you haven't change your eating habit and lifestyle! I know I can do it bcoz I've done it before. I just don't know when and how to start. But I guess Ramadhan would be a great time to start all over again.

So my plan for the fasting month is the same as last year and the year before that. Sahur with Herbalife shake + kurma + Tea Mix. Berbuka with usual meal (hopefully in moderate amount) + Tea Mix. Supper with Herbalife shake, if I'm hungry.

Anyways, I have a Ramadhan special Herbalife shake recipe that I would like to share - Chocolate Date shake.

2 scoops Formula 1 Dutch Chocolate
1 scoop Formula 3
2-3 dates (use the soft ones)
400ml chilled mineral water/plain water

Blend all of the ingredients. It's surprisingly good! Do give it a try.

Happy fasting, everyone! :)

Making the perfect pancakes

I made pancakes for brunch the other day. My pancakes turned out flat and splotchy and kinda chewy, unlike the ones at PHOP. I started my own little research, trying to find out what went wrong. And I think I know why; I just dumped all of the ingredients in a blender!

So yesterday I made pancakes again, but this time I didn't use a blender. I separate the mixture of the dry and wet ingredients first before combining them together. And it turned out perfect - soft, fluffy and no more uneven and splotchy pancakes. They were beautiful and SO good!

Here's the recipe to make yummy fluffy pancakes:

3 cups flour
6 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
3 eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1/3 cup Canola oil

Mix the dry ingredients - flour, baking powder, brown sugar and salt - together in a large mixing bowl. In a different bowl, beat the eggs, milk and oil, and pour into the dry ingredients' mixture. Stir until smooth.

Heat a pan over low heat and spoon the mixture. Once they're bubbly (like the picture below), flip 'em to the other side and cook for just another minute.

Serve warm with maple syrup, honey, cream, ice-cream or your favorite jam!

The Little Girl and the Tortoise

It's kind of hard to pack light when traveling with a baby, which is why a multipurpose anything would come in handy.

When Molina of TheLilCaliph asked if I would like to have a Zoobie Pet for my baby, I immediately thought, why not! Raya is almost around the corner, and my baby could use a travel companion for our balik kampung trip to Kedah. I chose Tama the Tortoise bcoz my baby likes to watch Barney so I thought I'd choose something that looks like one. Well Tama is nothing like a dinosaur but it's purple and green; a Barney color. Ayra adores it!

Zoobie Pets make a great travel companion bcoz not only are they so adorable, they can also be used for several purposes:

As a plush toy

a soft pillow

and a comfy blanket!

The blanket is made of warm fleece and it's oh-so-softtt! I find myself reaching for it especially during the day when I've made the bed and don't wanna mess it up. The size (36" x 66") is big enough for babies, kids, even for moms too. And yes, it's detachable as you can see it in the pic.

Just look how fun Ayra and her new pet is! Macam kawan pun ada...dah la macam sama besar! ;p

There are a lot of Zoobie Pets to choose from - Safari, Zoo and Bug collections - but here are my favorite picks:

For girls

For boys

Zoobie Pets can be purchased from TheLilCaliph.com for RM134.90 each and RM149.90 for the Limited Edition ones, or you can get them at the upcoming Parenthood Expo (which I will blog about later). It would make a cute baby shower gift too!

The way to a woman's heart is through her stomach

There's something so sweet and sexy about a man who cooks for his wife. Or one who offers to do the cooking once in a while, even if it's just a simple meal. It's the effort that counts.

A few weeks ago, my husband offered to make something for lunch as I was too tired to cook. I have to admit, juggling between housework and taking care of my baby is so backbreaking eventho the only housework I do are cooking and doing laundry (we hire a part-time maid to do the rest bcoz there is no way I can do everything!).

And so off he went to the kitchen.

Believe it or not, just the sight of him cooking makes my heart melt!

About half an hour later, he appeared in front of me with a plate of beef patty and egg sandwich in his hand and a proud "I-made-this-for-you" smile on his face. I chuckled at the sight of his sandwich; the egg especially. It isn't the best-looking sandwich I've ever seen, but I find it cute. It's like an innocent and sincere sandwich bcoz it's made by someone who doesn't know how to cook, yet insisted to do so.

The closest thing to cooking he has ever done is sapu roti dengan Nutella and preparing Herbalife shake (if those count as cooking), so this is really something. It's one of the sweetest things he's ever done!

This proves how much I love pink

But not too much to the extend of wearing top-to-toe in pink tho. Not hot!

So anyway.

It was almost 6pm. My husband and I were walking down the escalator near Robinsons, The Gardens when we saw a massive queue right in front of Robinsons. We wondered what could it be when I suddenly remembered the SMS I received few days earlier. It was Robinsons close-door party and before we knew it, we were already joining the queue. It was perfect timing; my husband wanted to look for a (belated) wedding gift for his friend who came for a visit all the way from the US and as for me... suffice to say, women don't need a purpose to go shopping - especially if it's sale season! ;p

The queue was the longest I've ever seen and been to. It almost ended at the entrance of The Gardens! Surprisingly, it didn't take that long to finally get into the store. There were goodie bags for early birds, which we obviously didn't get. I wonder what they got tho...

Halfway through the queue.

The close-door party was basically a sale event exclusively for Robinsons cardmembers. There were freebies, vouchers, F&B, and of course discounts and promotions. Every single thing was on sale, and I mean massive sale. Juicy Couture, Hugo Boss and some other designer watches were discounted to 60%! We headed straight to the Home Living department btw, and went in search for the wedding gift. I bought some stuff for myself and my baby as well, but these were my favorite purchases:

They are S&P Neon silicone whisk, spatula and pastry brush in pink. Pink! I couldn't resist! Like, how often do you see pink baking utensils kat rumah orang kan? They come in other colors as well (red, blue, yellow, green) and they were on promotion - buy 2 free 1 and I got 10% off on top of that.

Now I wish I can get this pink stand mixer as well!

Nuffnang's Ogawa Event

I've been invited to attend a few of Nuffnang's events before but never had the chance to go to one until yesterday... No wait, actually it was a day before yesterday bcoz it's past midnight already. Whatever. It doesn't really matter.

So anyway, the event was held at TGIF Pavilion and the sole purpose is to beramah-mesra with fellow bloggers, as well as trying out a few of Ogawa massage chairs. I went with my sister, Wani, and I think we were the last ones to arrive. We were like an hour late! Biasa la Tuan Puteri Indera Kayangan ni, dia lambat sebab pergi cari bulu peacock untuk buat brooch dia tu ha ;p

The food and company were good. I was surprised (and kinda glad) to see a lot of familiar faces!

Farah and Shila

Cindy. I first met her during the food tasting session at Italiannies last year, and at that time I didn't know she's the 1st Malaysian Dreamgirl! I am so ketinggalan ;p

Ceera

Leeds

Other bloggers whom I didn't have the chance of snapping pictures with include Red Mummy, City Gal and Simon Seow.

Buffet-style

Oh, I made some new friends too!

Kak Ayu (I thought she was in her late 20s, but she's actually in her mid 30s!)

Mya

At the Ogawa store...

The new Ogawa Comfort Massage Chair

I wonder what on earth was I looking at?

Goodie bags for each of us which consist of Ogawa U-shape Neck Supporter
