...but it looks like pink

I still haven't decided which camera to get. At the moment I'm using my husband's brother's DSLR camera (the one who lends me his Nokia handphone). It's cool and I like the 'clunk' sound when snapping pictures (feels like a pro or something ;p), but I think I am more of a point-and-shoot type. I use my camera in my everyday life, mostly taking impromptu pics of my baby and I like to bring my camera everywhere I go, so a DSLR camera is not really for me.

I don't even know if I'm holding it right.

A lot of you recommended Lumix and I was tempted to get it... until I saw Canon Digital IXUS 95 IS - the pink one to be exact. It's OMG so cute. I love the vibrant color! And I've always liked the sleek and stylishness of an IXUS camera.

But in the website, it says red instead of pink. I don't know, it looks like (hot) pink to me.
Or am I color blind?

First it was my digital camera, now it's my iPhone

I did tell you that my digital camera went kaput bcoz my baby sat on the zoom lens, didn't I?

Well a few days ago, after like the thousandth time of dropping and throwing by my one-year-old, my iPhone decided to merajuk and went kaput as well. At first only a few apps weren't accessible, then I wasn't able to send/reply SMSes and answer phone calls, and then after several hours I can't even unlock it! The touch screen was like totally frozen.

My husband tried everything he could including restore factory setting, but none worked (thank God he managed to back up all the data inside). So we went to Maxis and the guy told us that it's a hardware problem and they will replace a new iPhone for me in a month's time (yay!). I hope iPhone 3G takde stock coz if so, they'll replace mine with iPhone 3Gs.

But 1 month is too long! I'm currently using my BIL's Nokia handphone zaman tok kaduk and haiyoo... I know I shouldn't be complaining bcoz at least I have a phone to use, but the screen is so tiny and there's no internet and I've forgotten how exasperating it is to type on such a small non-qwerty keypads and how super leceh it is to have more than a single button to navigate! >_<

Wah banyaknya complain! (my hormone is doing the talking ;p) I'd better go to sleep or watch Gossip Girl or something.

PS: If only my digital camera was still under warranty, maybe boleh dpt replace with a new one kot.
PPS: Lepas ni agaknya my laptop pulak jadi mangsa keganasan Ayra! ;p

Bahasa Comel

I've always thought bahasa Kedah to be the cutest and funniest of all slang-slang Negeri. Both of my husband's parents are from Kedah and the whole family speaks a lot of Kedah. I once thought that bahasa Kedah was all about adding the 'q' sound at the end of each word (like "ayaq" instead of "air), besides "awat", "hang", "depa", etc.

I remembered during the early days of being married to him, I find it a little hard to understand his family's conversation. It was almost like they were talking in a foreign language. But little by little I managed to grasp some of them, like:

menangis = teriak
sekarang = la
kejar = ligan
pencuri = kawaq
degil = ketegaq
bosan = cemuih
macam = lagu
sen = kupang
jengket = ginjat
hulur = sua
ye ker = tuuu

Hmm... what else?
Oh right!

Muaz = Muaih

Hee hee.

Her First Jacuzzi

I don't know about you, but the first thing that I would do whenever I walked into a hotel room is to check out the bathroom. I don't bother checking out the bed bcoz most hotel beds are the same - you know, white duvet and everything. To me it's like, beautiful bathroom equals to a pleasant stay.

During our trip to Penang last week (no, not the makan trip), we stayed at The Northam All Suites hotel. Hubby opted for Junior Suite; everything about the room is nice. Especially the beautiful spacious bathroom - there's a water-massage jacuzzi too!

Ayra has always loved her bath time so I decided to let her try the jacuzzi (of course with our supervision). I put on her swimming suit and placed her inside the baby float and before you know it, she was happily "sailing" away. The jacuzzi is like a mini swimming pool for babies. My baby was fascinated with the whirlpool that she keeps on trying to catch 'em with her hands. It was so funny!

Of course a few minutes later, we jumped inside the tub to join her as well!

We let her play for half an hour - that was like her longest bath time. Tu pun dia meronta-ronta bila orang angkat sebab tak puas!

Shoe Cabinet Makeover

(This is a 48-hour sticky post, scroll down for updates!)

I have this dream of having a BIG white built-in shoe cabinet. Like the one Mr. Big builds for Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and The City Movie (just how romantic is that?). But since I'm not living in my own house yet, I had to forget that dream of mine and find an alternative solution: a normal shoe cabinet. It's so normal that even my JLo shoes is 5x the price of it.

Anyway.

This used to be my (sad) little shoe cabinet. It's so black and boring, I almost want to weep everytime I look at it.

Opening my shoe cabinet to reveal its content didn't excite me either bcoz my shoes seemed to sink in the blackness. It's kinda sad bcoz I like looking at my shoe collection.

So I decided to make my shoe cabinet more pleasing to the eyes by giving it a little makeover using Nippon paint.

Like this!

No wait, that's my other shoe cabinet (ok it's actually the kitchen cabinet) where I keep most of my never/seldom worn shoes - like this beautiful Enzo Angiolini satin pumps which I got as my wedding hantaran last year.

Can you believe I have never worn them yet?

Anyway, back to the makeover. I've always wanted a white shoe cabinet so deciding the color to repaint it was easy. With the help of Nippon paint color chart that I got from their workshop, I opted for Reserved White OW23 1P for the shoe cabinet, and Expresso 151A for the decoration. I chose Expresso 151A bcoz the furniture in my living room are mostly browns so I want my shoe cabinet to complement them.

Of course I didn't paint the shoe cabinet myself. I couldn't even paint my nails myself, apa lagi the whole shoe cabinet! So the painters from Nippon paint came to my house and helped me to repaint everything.

This is the type of paint they used: Odourlite Soft Matt Finish (for metal & wood)

Painting the first coat

My shoe cabinet needed 4 coats of paint to make it really white since the original color was black. The whole process of repainting took about 5 hours to make sure all details are painted!

And then there was the decorating process. I was thinking of making silhouettes of shoes using stenciling technique, but couldn't find shoe-shaped stencils at all (I find it a tedious task to make my own). So I opted for another decorating technique, which is stamping. I couldn't find a shoe-shaped stamp either, so I chose this spiral thingy which I got from Art Friend at The Gardens.

And here's the end result:

Nothing too fancy and it's easy to do. I'm happy with it - I couldn't wait to arrange my shoes inside it!

Hint: So sometimes you don't have to buy a new cabinet. Just revamp it and it will look great!

It's a lot better, no? Me likey!
Thanks Nippon paint!

Jalan-jalan Cari Makan

Went for a day trip to Penang with a few bloggers last week, flight and food sponsored by MAS. This is like the first time yours truly ever board a plane then balik on the same day so it was pretty exciting.

Checked in using flymas.mobi. Our boarding passes were sent via SMS to our phones.
And that square-ish thing is the bar code.

This is how you do it. Ain't that cool?

I feel like paparazzi is following me! ;p

Boarding time.

Every year is like Visit Malaysia Year, no?

Are you looking at the salted peanuts or my chunky ring or my tahi lalat?

Hubby playing Bejeweled 2 to kill time. It's so addictive!

Our "jalan-jalan cari makan" tour guide.
Wait till you hear her name - Protein. No kidding! (altho I'm not sure if that's the right spelling)

1st stop: Nasi Kandar Line Clear

To be honest, I don't like nasi kandar. Macam geli sikit especially kuah-kuah dia, I don't know why. But my husband loves it! Dah nama orang utagha noh... Speaking of which, all of us pronounced it as "nasi kandar", then my husband - being a true Kedahan - said "Bukan nasi kandar la. Nasi KANDAQQQ".

Righttt.

Top: My husband's plate. Bottom: mine (I can only finish half. Banyak sangat!)

LOL

2nd stop: The famous Teochew cendol in Penang.

Please don't ask me where it is bcoz I don't know.
But it's at one of the streets in Penang Road with like the longest queue!

The best cendol I've ever tasted, seriously! And it's only RM1.70.

3rd stop: Joez Coconut

The coconut jelly is another favorite of mine!

Girls cam-horing

Last stop: Pasembur at Padang Kota Lama
(eh silap, it's pasemboqqq. Hee ;p)

Despite being so full to the brim, my husband and I were able to finish off the plate!

We had to cancel out Ais Kacang from our itinerary by the way, as we were running out of time. Plus we were so kekenyangan tak hingat dunia!

With Wei Zhi.

Arrived at KLIA at almost 7pm.
